Our cat, Bonnie, disappeared :-(

This post is a tribute to our cat, Bonnie.

I don't know why but me, the one that was opposed to the idea of having a cat in the house, is the one that misses Bonnie the most. I feel bad about it because the poor kitty cat was literally abandoned by us. It seems it was too much time alone for her to survive.

Bonnie was an outside cat, but gradually she was gaining our hearts and started to hang out inside the house, despite J.J and Clyde's harassment. At night we kicked her out because her constant purring and moving didn't let us go to sleep.

For Christmas, we thought that she can handle it. She had already survived a week without us when we went to Honduras.

This time, we left to the ranch on December 22nd, and didn't arrive until January 2nd, roughly 11 days later. We feared we will found her frozen or starving. When we arrived home it was dark; nobody wanted to check the shed. Steven was sent after being chosen unanimously as the messenger. He found on the shed Bonnie's boyfriend (a cat we called "El Pololo" who showed up one day on the shed and never left), but no traces of Bonnie. Since the boyfriend was there we had the hope to find her next morning. Today, the kids went to ask the neighbors and nobody has seen her. A gentleman "tactfully" told them that a coyote might have eaten her. They took her disappearance surprisingly calm. No tears, no crying, not even a gesture of discomfort. Why me, the cat-hater, has a tight heart and tears in her eyes? Probably because I am getting my menopause, but still...

The rest of the afternoon past by quietly but she is not arriving. Bonnie might be wandering on the Crooked River Ranch wilderness with a lost mind. What happen after being almost every single day inside a cozy and warm house, that she was left alone, with food and water but without people that caress her or dogs that irritates her? What happen? If she didn't lose her mind, or was eaten by coyotes, maybe she found a better home where she is let inside and spoiled dogs are not aloud.

However, Bonnie, I think Clyde already misses you. I think he gradually will become more sedentary, because he won't have you.

It won't be more Bonnie and Clyde chases, or grumpy complains from my part. Mice will be dancing inside the house again and we will remember you, until Matilde and Vincent ask for another cat and we agree on having one.

Yet, Bonnie, you will be remembered always by me since you are the first cat that have made me cry because of your departure.
